Pump Repair, Refurbishing

The client had to discontinue organic solvent cleaning and streamline and improve processes for refurbishing, repair, and rebuild of hydraulic pumps. It was either that, or come under heavy regulatory scrutiny. We helped the client to achieve effective cleaning and depainting options that meet environmental regulatory requirements. We evaluated “non-chemical” cleaning, non-VOC solvents, as well as aqueous cleaning agents and processes. As with many repair facilities, the products have a history of contact with process chemicals that is not always known. There is a  potential for unexpected reactivity and undesirable chemical exposure during repair operations. Cleaning processes that minimize employee exposure, including contained systems for the aqueous processes were instituted.

Cooling Coils, Critical Aerospace Equipment

The client, the manufacturer of the equipment, had in-house repair facilities for cleaning the interior of long coils.  In addition, cleaning and repair operations were conducted at customer facilities world-wide. If cleaning was not adequate, burnout of systems could occur.  Visual observation of cleanliness was not readily achievable; and customer repair operations were not standardized. As a result, performance of the repaired equipment was sub-optimal. BFK Solutions helped the client to design reliable cleaning systems for in-house repair operations. We also set up cleaning specifications for customer repair facilities.
