Repair/ Rebuild

Repair and rebuild include ongoing maintenance of cleaning process equipment, general overhaul of hardware, and field and depot repair for the military. In repair/rebuild facilities, either in-house shops or independent contractors, cleaning operations range from depainting and blast cleaning to critical cleaning of precision parts.  If you are involved in repair and rebuild of hardware, you justifiably worry that the product may literally have been to hell and back.  Soils may be unknown; they may be burnt on.  You face the daunting task of choosing rugged cleaning processes that stand up to high soil loading, that meet or exceed regulations, and that do not erode the profit margin.  We work with you to make sure repair, rebuild, and maintenance processes result in clean parts and a well-functioning product so your business can thrive.

While we sometimes also cope with rework as an inherent part of initial manufacturing, in general, we help you to minimize rework - you get it right the first time.

Pump Repair, Refurbishing

"Barbara Kanegsberg gave me the best solution I’ve seen for anyone in my industry. It was a cheap price to pay for the benefits received."

Pat Maluso, Plant Manager, Western Hydrostatics, Inc.

pump-repair-afterThe client had to discontinue organic solvent cleaning and streamline and improve processes for refurbishing, repair, and rebuild of hydraulic pumps. It was either that, or come under heavy regulatory scrutiny. We helped the client to achieve effective cleaning and depainting options that meet environmental regulatory requirements. We evaluated “non-chemical” cleaning, non-VOC solvents, as well as aqueous cleaning agents and processes. As with many repair facilities, the products have a history of contact with process chemicals that is not always known. There is a  potential for unexpected reactivity and undesirable chemical exposure during repair operations. Cleaning processes that minimize employee exposure, including contained systems for the aqueous processes were instituted.

Cooling Coils, Critical Aerospace Equipment

The client, the manufacturer of the equipment, had in-house repair facilities for cleaning the interior of long coils.  In addition, cleaning and repair operations were conducted at customer facilities world-wide. If cleaning was not adequate, burnout of systems could occur.  Visual observation of cleanliness was not readily achievable; and customer repair operations were not standardized. As a result, performance of the repaired equipment was sub-optimal. BFK Solutions helped the client to design reliable cleaning systems for in-house repair operations. We also set up cleaning specifications for customer repair facilities.
