Specialized Wafer Fabrication, Productionization
• pilot program to be productionized
• troubleshooting, failure analysis
• interpretation, analytical tests
• recommendations for contamination control, process control, solvent substitution
The company was developing a specialized, advanced wafer fabrication process. Particulate contamination, wafer surface preparation, contamination control, and process scale-up were major concerns. In addition, regulatory constraints and company policy mandated replacement of some solvents. Modifying the process required extensive departmental cooperation, so that it was clear how the effects of a given process could impact subsequent operations.
BFK Solutions conducted a site visit that included an educational seminar,
brainstorming workshop, and a site audit. Process document and analytical
test results were also evaluated.
After extensive evaluation and incorporation of requirements of various
department personnel, BFK Solutions recommended appropriate chemicals
and equipment to
optimize process flow and minimize contamination.
Optics Fabrication
BFK Solutions has been involved in optics fabrication projects in the
United States and abroad.
Optics fabrication is exceedingly application specific and competition
sensitive. An assortment of agents are used to hold optics in place
during polishing,
including pitches, beewax, rosin, and various synthetics. In general,
projects involve balancing the nature and performance characteristics
of the blocking
compound, choosing an effective agent for deblocking or dewaxing,
and assuring that there is no interfering residue and that the desired
surface characteristics
are not compromised. Batch to batch variability in the substrate
itself
can be an issue.
